Alert Level 4

  • Everyone must self-isolate and only people who undertaking essential services and the transport of freight will be permitted to travel.
  • Motorhomes will need to be parked up at a stationary location and are not permitted to travel around the country. If you are planning to self-isolate at a campground or holiday park you will need to remain there for the duration of the level 4 crisis or until you can take a flight home.

Campgrounds are essential services and permitted and encouraged to stay open during Alert Level 4.  However, shared facilities must not be used and owners may wish to close these off where possible.

Self-contained vehicles can be used as accommodation by persons that are self-isolating.  Self-contained vehicles have a toilet, water and waste facilities and will display a sticker confirming they meet the Self-Containment Standard NZS 5465:2001.

Those using self-contained vehicles to self-isolate are strongly encouraged to stay at commercial camping sites, if available.  They must remain at the same site for four weeks or until the Alert Level is reduced.   Note that during Alert Level 4, Department of Conservation campsites will be closed, along with many local council-owned freedom camping spots.

Vehicles that are not self-contained must not be used for self-isolation.   Those currently living in vehicles that are not self-contained must find alternative accommodation while New Zealand is at Alert Level 4.

Returning your motorhome

For the safety of our staff and following industry guidelines on operating during the Alert Level 4, we have decided to close both our Auckland and Christchurch depots until further notice.

Any vehicle returns after today will be unattended and we ask the following procedure to be followed.
Please return your vehicle full of fuel as per pick up and with waste (toilet rinsed clean) empty. Please also turn off your fridge.

If you are aware of any damage occurring during your hire, please leave a note of it in the vehicle and email us further details when able. Emails will continue to be monitored and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Please lock your vehicle and put the keys where indicated on the notice at the depot.
Once the vehicle has been checked in “returned” by staff, an email will be sent to you. Please be aware that this is unlikely to be done daily so there may be a delay.

  • Please proceed immediately to the closest branch to return your motorhome before proceeding home in New Zealand or to the airport to get an international flight.

We encourage all travellers to practice social distancing and good hygiene. Official government guidelines can be found here

Cancellations and refunds

In the case of bookings made on our website, the existing T&C’s will apply. We are also offering the option of transferring bookings to a future date, with completion by 20 September 2021.  We will hold and transfer the current value of the hire to a new booking; there will be no refund of any reduced days or if the daily rate is less than what is being paid now. There will be no charge for these date changes, however any rate increase will be applicable.  The benefit is that you do not suffer any loss of deposit or booking fees and the exchange rate does not alter for this portion of your hire costs.

With bookings made via third parties, including online travel agents, traditional travel agents or other 3rd parties, then any request for a refund should to be direct to that organisation in the first instance.

Alternatively, if you wish to cancel and be refunded, then standard cancellation fees will apply

  • 29 days and over deposit retained
  • 20 - 29 days 20% of total reservation cost
  • 10 - 19 days 40% of total reservation cost
  • 1 - 9 days 75% of total reservation cost
  • No Show 100% of total reservation cost.

In all cases the minimum amount retained is the deposit.

No refunds for cancellations made after the travel or travel date has commenced. If the vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever after travel has commenced then no refund is available.
